I opened my eyes. It was still dark outside. A glimpse on my phone - 4:13… Ah, that is far from waking up.
I turned around wanting to sleep. But my mind was racing. One thought after another, that seemed like a freeway with high traffic that you simply cannot stop.
I tired to breath. I tried to relax. Nothing helped. Till I started meditating. Later I woke up from my alarm at 7:30.
Luckily, I have years of meditation practice. So at night I knew what to do, what would work for me.
But what if you are new to this - not knowing where to start? Or mindfulness is not yet a part of your routine, where you can easily find self help?
Luckily, I have a place for you to start. Let me introduce to you Stephanie Lewis, a mindfulness and wellness coach who believes that mindfulness isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey.
For her, the journey didn’t start with sitting quietly in meditation—far from it. “My mind felt too “hot,” overflowing with thoughts racing so quickly that stillness seemed impossible. (And at the time, I didn’t know that mindful awareness of the racing mind was actually part of the practice.)”
On her journey Stephanie tried different practices. Over time, she discovered that mindfulness could meet her where she was, no matter what life looked like. And she has experienced the profound physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of consistently engaging in a variety of mindfulness practices.
